For more than two decades we have been building fine violins, violas and cellos in our studio. With a lot of know-how and experience, we create sonorous individual pieces from noble materials, all of which unmistakably bear the Versteeg signature.
Old Masters as a source of inspiration
Violin making is an art – and inspiration is an essential factor for success. We have the invaluable advantage of being able to restore first-class instruments by Italian masters in our studio and to study their concepts in detail. This is where we get valuable inspiration for making our own new instruments.
Materials of the highest quality
We have at our disposal a large selection of first-class woods that are ideally suited for instrument making. Some of the spruces date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Our varnish is the result of years of development work, which has also incorporated the latest research on Cremonese varnish from the 17th and 18th centuries. For the most part, we produce the varnish pigments ourselves in the traditional way. As a result, the varnish pattern continues to develop in the desired manner through the use of the instrument. We can therefore dispense with the artificial production of an aging and wear pattern.
